In this video, when you’ve in multiball, how are you keeping the bottom right flipper held up to cradle the ball while at the same time making shots with the upper right flipper? It looks like you can have the flippers working independently but I thought they both flipped at the same time (so you’d flip the cradled ball as well)?
Thanks
Chris
It all depends on how hard you push the button in. Take a look at the grand lizard video for a more thorough example. Each game is different depending on the switch gap, but as a general rule, it works on williams and stern games.
I never played Whirlwind but I am just as puzzled as Chris. From the video it seems the left button can fire the upper right flipper when the right botton is hold?
You just don’t push the button as hard, and it will only activate the upper flipper…
I mean you don’t push it as far in, look at a double stacked leaf switch and you will understand how the flippers work.
Thanks all, I’ve just tried it on my Whirlwind today and I get it
Now to practice using that technique during multiball.
Thanks for the answers. That’s a nice touch that makes pinball a distinctive game.
Just been looking at the EarthShaker vid and wondered whether the strategy used there is good for WW. Seems like a lot of work for not many points
Any good high score strategies for WW out there? My best is 38M but I’ve seen loads higher than that.
Multiball is king, since the jackpot values are very high. Super Cellar is good too, but is mainly useful as a source of extra balls. Some players use Quick Multiball as a way of completing and lighting locks safely instead of generating millions (though that is nice too).
Playing multiball well is crucial. Whirlwind holds balls in the Cellar while any animations play, including the long jackpot animation, so one way to a big score is to try and re-jackpot before the animation ends, playing one ball as long as possible.
The “miles to go” strategy is less effective because the ramp is more difficult and because more points are available by other means. 200,000 per ramp is a nice reward but not as nice as it was on Earthshaker.
Good luck!
Thanks Bowen, sounds like I need to practice multiball
Whats considered a good score on WW? Default settings, 3 ball with outlanes in the middle.
Scores are hard to determine because the same game can play so differently due to a bunch of factors. I’ve seen scores range from 5 million on a brutal whirlwind to 30-50 million on an easy playing one. PAPA 13 B division had a high of around 11-12 million in qualifying on a difficult one.
