The Pinball Archive
Is it just a trick of the lighting, or is that a Powerball in the game?
Looks like a powerball to me too. Not only is it white but it moves and reacts like the TZ powerball.
You are both correct.
PAPA 14 Champion Andrei Massenkoff was asked to pick a group for Pinburgh, and he specifically requested a powerball in Genie.
I also notice a flipper swap in the top playfield area. These are usually a small set of flippers. It looks like they have been replaced with 3” Williams flippers.Neat mod!
Yep. We’re aware of that one. The game arrived that way and we didn’t change it. It was the same way at last Pinburgh.
I’m curious if the powerball leads to higher or lower scoring overall compared to the regular ball.
That would solely depend on the player. What it does do is significantly raise the game speed on a widebody that has a slower by nature game speed.
One thing that’s good to know is when is the yellow light lit in front of the 4 bank for bonus multiplier. The answer is it alternates with every pop bumper hit. And you only have to hit 1 target to add to the multiplier, not all 4.
Question: I sometimes notice suddenly during a really good ball that the “collect bonus” saucer is lit. You can collect and it does wipe out your bonus, but you can then begin adding it up again on the same ball. Does anyone know what you have to do to light the “collect bonus”?
If it’s like some other Gottliebs of this era, the Collect Bonus lights at a specific bonus level. In Genie this level is 20,000. On some games 20,000 is the maximum bonus, but you can earn past 20,000 on Genie. Collecting knocks it back to 1,000 with the purpose of being able to build it up beyond the normal maximum.
