Not completing lower playfield @ 2:50 was to avoid getting instant multiball award, since 2 balls were already locked? Are games always in tournament mode in this video series? At least this one seems to be set to TM.
Could have been nice to show at least one AMY hurry up, there’s some serious scoring potential in there too.
Correct about the locks. It’s somewhat random which games are in tournament mode and which aren’t. No good answer for you there.
If you got the Multiball award, would the game remember that you had two balls locked? Which would mean that you could get the “conventional” Multiball with one more lock? Or, does the Gray Multiball award clear the locks?
I could be wrong, but I think it clears the locks. I seem to remember this happening in previous recordings, which is why I let it time out at that point.
Yes, earning Multiball through GRAY acts as though Lock 3 just happened, so you’ll start over with Lock 1 the next time.
It still doesn’t make any sense to me why you would let it time out. Why wouldn’t you want Multiball to start then? Oh, I see, you want the video to show Multiball being started conventionally. But if you were really playing for points, it would be a horrible decision.
GRAY’s Multiball Jackpots were worth less points than “conventional” Multiball. Why the game lowers the values, I don’t know. Getting the “conventional” Multiball, his Jackpots were 1/2 diamonds x 1Million (33.5 Million). GRAYS’s Jackpot was only worth 10 Million.
The multiball jackpot value is 10 million + 500,000 per diamond earned since the last multiball.
Before the first multiball, the mysterious player (let’s call him “Mark”) earned 47 diamonds, so the jackpot value was 33.5 million.
Between the first and second multiballs, “Mark” earned 0 diamonds, so the jackpot value was 10 million.
The diamonds control the jackpot value. It doesn’t matter whether multiball begins from Gorilla Madness or conventionally.
I had no idea this would cause this kind of discussion, but good on that. I reiterate, I was under the impression that starting gorilla would clear the conventional locks, and for me personally, four shots to gray is easier than relighting and collecting the conventional locks, so I chose to let gray time out, thinking it would be easier to get back to.
If there are any other consequences, good or bad, I wasn’t aware of them. I was strictly thinking about starting the next multi ball. Also, I had absolutely no idea what determined the jackpot value until this discussion. Cool to learn that.
Is the mine sequence totally random?
The mine shaft is not random. There are between 4 and 6 different routes. Three things to note. One when playing a multiplayer game the first mine is the same for all players so you can learn from other peoples successes or failures. Two, I have found that the far left door is the correct path more often then not, especially when you have 5 doors to choose from. Three If the mine is not completed the next game will start with the same mine, although that might be a machine setting
